The New York Islanders continue their road trip with a stop at the San Jose Sharks in late Saturday NHL action.

The New York Islanders avoided a three game slide on the road with a one sided 7-2 win at the LA Kings. Los Angeles saw Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter scoring on the power play while Jonathan Quick allowed six goals on 29 shots.

Valtteiri Filppula topped the New York scoring spree with a pair of goals while Casey Cizkas, Josh Bailey, Andrew Ladd, Matt Martin and Leo Komarov also lit the lamp. Three players posted two assists and Robin Lehner stopped 28 shots to get the win for the Islanders.

The San Jose Sharks are shooting for back to back wins for the first time in the early going after a 5-1 win against visiting Buffalo Thursday. The Sabres only goal came off the stick of Jake McCabe in the second while Carter Hutton gave up four goals on 38 shots.

Logan Couture led the Sharks offensive charge with a hat trick with Joonas Donskoi and Joe Pavelski joining the scoring column. Brent Burns and Evander Kane posted two assists each while Martin Jones stopped 24 shots to get the win for San Jose.

Over is 6-0 in Islanders last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Islanders are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record and over is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 Saturday games. Sharks are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and Sharks are 0-4 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Sharks are 6-1 in their last 7 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game. Under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings in San Jose and under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings and Islanders are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.

I think going against San Jose is a bit risky because they are better then they have shown but I’m doing it here small…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
