The Islanders head into San Jose on Tuesday night looking to snap their two game losing skid as they battle a Sharks team who has lost seven of their last 10.
The Isles head into San Jose on Tuesday night looking to move above the .500 mark no the road but they continue to be short handed and will need a total team effort if they're going to do so. New York was projected to be in the mix to win the Metro division this season but heading into tonight's game they are 7-5-3 on the year and sit five points back of the Rangers for first place. John Tavares has been in and out of the lineup with an illness and the blue line hasn't had the start many expected and as such they have been a bit inconsistent and need to right the ship in a hurry. Luckily for them, they are taking on a Sharks team that doesn't know which way is up at the moment as they have stumbled to a 7-7 mark through 14 games.
The Sharks have been very inconsistent and mediocre at best this season but somehow remain in third place in the Pacific thanks to a very slow start from some of the division's preseason favourites. San Jose will likely find a way to even things out and get back on the ascent as they do have some very good players but they are also on the cusp of blowing things up as some guys could find new uniforms by season's end especially if they are out of the playoff picture. For now though it will be a coin flip figuring out which Sharks team shows up and in this one I will give them the benefit of the doubt on home ice against a slumping Islanders side.
