The San Jose Sharks look to make quick work of the New York Rangers as the two sides meet up in California on Tuesday.
The Rangers look to pull off the huge upset on the road on Tuesday and disrupt the success of the home team in this series, but they face an uphill battle against one of the league’s best teams. The Rangers are going through some growing pains as they are set for a rebuild in the near future and playing on the road hasn’t been too kind to them as they are 15-41 in their last 56 trips away from Madison Square Garden and will face a Sharks group who has won 15 of their last 22 games at home. Henrik Lundqvist is expected to get the start as he will face off against Martin Jones.
The Sharks made a huge splash in the offseason when acquired Erik Karlsson and it immediately put them into the discussion as one of the league’s best teams. However, they have been a tad inconsistent to start the year and will need to elevate their game if they’re to remain in the discussion as one of the league’s premier squads. San Jose is 2-6 in their last 8 games following a win but are 36-16 in their last 52 Tuesday games and catch a Rangers side that is a woeful 8-20 in their last 28 games playing on one day’s rest.
The Rangers have gone under in 5 of their last 6 against the Pacific and in 6 of their last 7 against the Western Conference while the Sharks are 4-1 in their last 5 overall and have gone over in 4 of their last 5. This one figures to have some fire works and the over is the play in what should be a high scoring contest.
