Ottawa Senators (21-18-6) at San Jose Sharks (22-18-2)
|Date & Time||Monday January 18, 2016, 10:30 PM (EST)|
The Line: San Jose Sharks -165 / Ottawa Senators +149 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Sharks look to stay hot and win their sixth game in a row as they welcome the Ottawa Senators to town on Monday night.
The Ottawa Senators are looking to follow up on their big win in Los Angeles on Saturday with an encore against the Sharks on Monday and in the process move into fifth place in the Atlantic division. The Sens haven’t quite had the season many expected despite another spectacular year from Erik Karlsson but they can right the ship in the second half of the year and go on on a late season run like they did last season and carry some momentum heading into the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Sens are 10-12-2 on the road this season while the Sharks are 8-12-0 at home which should make for a pretty close contest on the west coast.
San Jose continues to frustrate the bookies and handicappers alike as they have gone on a five game winning streak and have looked like Cup contenders in the process but are only those five games above the .500 mark and sit in third place in the Pacific division with 48 points. The Sharks are inconsistent and very streaky and nothing about their trends is ordinary as they are bad at home but one of the league’s best road teams and don’t seem to have any sense of identity from one night to the next. San Jose are big favourites here and while they are five game victors I think the Sens are getting overlooked and with a day off from Saturday’s win I think the follow it up with another big effort.
