Not only are the San Jose Sharks undefeated to start the season but they simply been dominanting their opponents. They've outscored their opponents 21-5 on the year and haven't even really been tested in any of these games. They're coming out flying every night, controlling play, dominating in shots, and it's paying off with easy victories on the scoreboard. We've see this song and dance with the Sharks before as they've been one of the most consistent regular season clubs in the league the last decade. Rooking Tomas Hertl has been the talk of the National Hockey League with his four goal performance against the New York Rangers and his highligh reel goal the other night but this club can hurt you many different ways. Against Vancouver the other night the Sharks got goals from four different players in their 4-1 win and got another strong performance from Antti Niemi in net. The Ottawa Senators should be strong competition for them on Saturday night but with the way they're playing right now it's hard to bet against the Sharks.
The Senators are off to a 1-0-2 start to the year that has seen them lose two games by a goal in extra time and pick up their lone win in a 1-0 shutout of the Buffalo Sabres. Wednesday night in Los Angeles against the Kings they looked like they weren't ready to play at the start, allowing three first period goals and falling behind a usually deadly defensive club on the road. But a strong rally came with Jean-Gabriel Pageau scoring in the second period, Bobby Ryan adding his first goal as a Senator in the third, and Milan Michalek tying the game 3-3 late before the Senators finally fell just 28 seconds into overtime. It was a strong comeback for the club but it's not a position you can put yourself in regularly if you're going to win games in this league. Craig Anderson allowed four goals on 28 shots in the loss and will certainly be in for a huge test if he's in net on Saturday at the Shark Tank.
