Late night NHL action features the San Jose Sharks hosting the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
The Ottawa Senators have been having too many issues at both ends of the ice and a quick turnaround is needed to prevent the season from getting too far out of hand. Ottawa has one win in weeks after a 4-3, overtime loss at the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night where the defense struggled. The Senators received scoring from Jean-Gabriel, Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel. Duchene also gave the Sens an assist while Matt Condo allowed four goals on 38 shots.
Drew Doughty secured the two points for Los Angeles with his overtime tally just 32 seconds in to the extra session. The Kings saw Alex Iafallo, Tanner Pearson and Dustin Brown also found the back of the net while Anze Kopitar logged two assists to make the 37 stops of Darcy Kuemper a winner.
The San Jose Sharks are hoping their offense can stay on track when the Ottawa Senators visit on Saturday. San Jose had the offense cranking in a 5-4, overtime win versus the visiting Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night. The balanced Carolina attack featured Sebastian Aho scoring twice with Victor Rask and Jeff Skinner also lighting the lamp with Cam Ward taking the loss with 28 stops.
Brent Burns capped a huge San Jose rally with his overtime marker just 22 seconds in to OT. Melker Karlsson, Joe Thorton, Logan Couture and Barclay Goodrow each lit the lamp in regulation with Martin Jones giving the Sharks 21 saves.
Senators are 0-6 in their last 6 vs. Pacific and Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Western Conference and
Senators are 0-4 in their last 4 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation. Sharks are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Atlantic and Sharks are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 18-5-8 in Sharks last 31 Saturday games. Over is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings and Senators are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Senators are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in San Jose.
Offense has been front and center when these teams faceoff so I am looking at the over pending goalies…
