The San Jose Sharks look to even the series and head back to Pittsburgh with some momentum as the teams meet up in California on Monday night.
The Penguins were one bounce away from setting up a potential series winning game on Monday night but it wasn’t to be as the Sharks got an overtime winner from Joonas Donskoi and are now back in the series heading into game four. Pittsburgh has looked the part of a Cup champion for the first three games in this series and with their team speed and skill we can expect them to rebound and battle through adversity tonight. The Pens will likely stick with Matt Murray in goal who has been brilliant in these playoffs but after two soft goals in game three there was thought they might go with Marc-Andre Fleury to go up against Martin Jones.
The Sharks meanwhile played their way back into the series with the Penguins and while it wasn’t pretty they did enough to earn their first win of the series and can even things up with a better outing on Monday night. The Sharks are a bug, physical group up front and should have the edge against he Penguins’ blue line but the story in this series so far has been the speed of the Penguins and their perfect execution of the little things that when added up make the difference between a win and a loss. San Jose needs to start this game fast and harness some of the energy from the crowd as they will be in deep if they fall behind early. This series has the makings of going seven and while the Pens have been the better of the two teams through three games I think San Jose has a statement effort here and get another victory.
