The San Jose Sharks look to book their ticket to the Stanley Cup final as they host the St. Louis Blues at home on Wednesday night.
The Blues spoiled a great opportunity to take a 3-2 series lead heading into San Jose on Wednesday night but a very tough 6-3 loss has them on the brink of elimination and they will need a special effort tonight to keep their season alive. The Blues have won big games on the road in these playoffs and did grab a win in game four earlier this week but the circumstances are different now and it will be a daunting task to take down a Sharks side that looks poised to move on to their first ever Stanley Cup final. Jake Allen will likely get the start once again as the goaltending situation is very rocky right now as he will take on Martin Jones who has been remarkable in these playoffs.
The Sharks meanwhile netted another impressive performance in this series and continue to give the Blues’ defense fits with their physical, hard nosed style of play in the attacking zone and their balance offensively has been vital to their success. San Jose has long been awaiting a game like this one as they are 60 minutes away from advancing to the Stanley Cup final and with the game being played in San Jose it would be a perfect fitting for them to get there in front of their home fans who have endured some hardship over the years. The Sharks are the better team plain and simple and I think they get it done at home tonight and finish off the Blues.
