The Lightning look to shake off a loss in their last outing and chase down the Canadiens atop the Atlantic as they head into San Jose to clash with the Sharks.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have lost their grip atop the Atlantic division and have given up control in the Eastern Conference to their division rivals from Montreal but the race is still very close as they trail by just two points and while they have played two more games than the Habs it should come down to the wire to determine top seeding and divisional bragging rights. The Bolts have the league's best offense and they'll need it come playoff time as they will be going up against some very solid goaltenders in the Atlantic division playoffs and in the Eastern Conference as a whole but with Steven Stamkos leading the way it is clear that the Lightning can compete with any team in the league. Ben Bishop has had a very solid season and has done so since he was given the reigns in a Tampa Bay and in a matchup on the road against a San Jose team that is right in the mix as well he will have to be on point.
The Sharks continue their trek towards postseason hockey in a matchup Sunday against Tampa Bay and heading into this contest they sit in second place in the Pacific division but are being hounded by the Canucks, Flames, and Kings in what is the most exciting playoff race in the league. San Jose has played the most games of anyone in the division and as such sit on top of the pack outside of the Anaheim Ducks who essentially had the division wrapped up at Christmas but they are a streaky team and if they go on a losing skid to close out the season it could very well cost them the opportunity to compete for the Stanley Cup and would leave them with yet another lengthy offseason to ponder their moves moving forward. The Sharks are coming off a win but they are playing a very good Lightning team here and while they are at home I think top to bottom the Bolts are the better team and getting them as a dog is a steal as I think they win this one with ease.
