The SAP Center and the San Jose Sharks host the Vancouver Canucks in NHL action.
The Vancouver Canucks face the San Jose Sharks Saturday for their third straight road contest. Vancouver has just two wins in six games after falling to the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Thursday night.
The Canucks struggled at both ends of the ice although things looked good early on Sven Baertschi’s tally at 12:12 of the opening period but that was the start and finish for the good news. Jacob Markstrom absorbed the loss for Vancouver with all four goals allowed on 35 shots.
The Ducks saw Jacob Silfverberg score twice within 35 seconds of each other in the third period with Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Montour adding power play tallies. Richard Rakell and Corey Perry also supplied a pair of assists for Anaheim to lift Ryan Miller to the win with 13 stops before leaving in the third with an undisclosed injury.
The San Jose Sharks look to continue a strong home stand when the Vancouver Canucks take the ice on Saturday. San Jose had won four consecutive times before getting tagged with a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.
This began well enough with the Sharks jumping to a 1-0 lead a mere 25 seconds in on a Joonas Donskoi tally but it was all Tampa Bay from that point. Vladimir Namestnikov paced the Lightning scoring spree with a pair of goals and Nikita Kucherov scored and added two assists with Jake Dotchin and Slater Koekkoek also scoring.
Steven Stamkos gave Tampa Bay three assists and Andrei Vasilevskiy upped his record to 12-1-1 with 32 saves. The Sharks saw Martin Jones allow four goals on 21 shots with Aaron Dell playing the third and stopping nine shots.
