The Sharks look to stay hot as they welcome the Canucks to San Jose on Saturday as both teams battle for positioning in the Pacific division.
The Canucks will look to shake off an overtime loss and reclaim their grip on second palce in the division as they take on the Sharks in San Jose as the jockeying continues in the Western Conference. The Canucks were dealt a blow when they learned they'd be without Ryan Miller for a month but backup Eddie Lack, who was the team's starter for a large portion of games last year, has done a great job stepping in and is keeping his team's playoff hopes intact. Heading into tonight's game though the Canucks sit with 76 points and are tied with the Calgary Flames and the Kings and Sharks are knocking on the door sitting just two and four points back respectively and are making it the most exciting finish in recent memory. Lack will get the call here as he will go up against Antii Niemi.
The Sharks are rolling right now and return home to face off against the Canucks in what is one of the marquee games of the night on the ice as these division rivals will surely bring their A-game. San Jose is the streakiest team in hockey and are very tough to handicap because of it but they seem to be on the upswing right now and while I don't like the price based on their inconsistency it is clear the odds makers recognize San Jose is a team that can go on a run in one direction or another. Despite winning back to back games the Sharks are a mere plus-2 in goal differential this season and while the Canucks aren't much better at plus-8 they are the dogs here and are getting a very nice price. Well worth it.
