The Line: San Jose Sharks -110 / Vegas Golden Knights +100 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL action comes to the SAP Center where the San Jose Sharks face the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Vegas Golden Knights still sit atop the Pacific standings with their big offense doing a lot of the damage. That offense was still not enough in a 5-4 loss at Pittsburgh where William Karlsson, James Neal, Ryan Carpenter and Jonathan Marchessault all scored while Marc-Andre Fleury allowed five goals on 38 shots.
The surging Penguins fell behind 2-0 but reeled off five straight goals with Ian Cole, Ryan Reeves, Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel all finding the back of the net. Sidney Crosby added a pair of helpers and Matt Murray recorded 21 stops to get the win for Pittsburgh.
The San Jose Sharks have a shot to overtake the Vegas Golden Knights in the Pacific but they have to avoid losing streaks of any length. San Jose had won back to back contests before their offense stalled in a 3-1 loss at the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. Joel Ward scored in the second period for the Sharks while Martin Jones took the loss with 38 saves.
The Avalanche scored twice in the second with Gabriel Bourque and Tyson Jost lighting the lamp. JT Compher added an empty net tally with only four seconds remaining to secure the victory. Jost also posted an assist and Jonathan Bernier picked up the win for Colorado with a 38 save performance.
Under is 6-0 in Golden Knights last 6 Thursday games and Golden Knights are 10-1 in their last 11 vs. Pacific and over is 6-1 in Golden Knights last 7 road games. Under is 4-0 in Sharks last 4 overall and Sharks are 5-0 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and Sharks are 5-0 in their last 5 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days.
Even though these teams are fighting it out for first in the Pacific they have played once with nine goals scored so my lean is over for now…
