The Line: Vegas Golden Knights +110 / San Jose Sharks -132 -- Over/Under: 6
The Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks meet Saturday in NHL action at the SAP Center.
The Vegas Golden Knights could use a win here to snap a four-game losing streak. The Vegas Golden Knights are averaging 3.1 goals per game and are scoring on 17.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Jonathan Marchessault leads Vegas with 24 goals, Reilly Smith has 33 assists and Shea Theodore has 194 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 81.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Marc-Andre Fleury has given up 144 goals on 1,673 shots faced and Malcolm Subban has allowed 52 goals on 527 shots. The Vegas Golden Knights have allowed three or more goals in seven of their last nine games.
The San Jose Sharks could use a win here to snap a brutal seven-game losing streak. The San Jose Sharks are averaging 3.5 goals per game and are scoring on 23.8 percent of their power play opportunities. Joe Pavelski leads San Jose with 37 goals, Brent Burns has 65 assists and Logan Couture has 187 shots on goal. Defensively, the San Jose Sharks are allowing 3.1 goals per game and are killing 79.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Aaron Dell has given up 63 goals on 557 shots faced and Martin Jones has allowed 168 goals on 1,621 shots. The San Jose Sharks have allowed three or more goals in each of their last eight games.
The Golden Knights are 5-16 in their last 21 games as an underdog, 2-10 in their last 12 games as a road underdog and 9-3 in their last 12 vs. Western Conference. The Sharks are 0-7 in their last 7 games as a favorite, 0-5 in their last 5 games as a home favorite and 7-3 in their last 10 Saturday games. The Golden Knights are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the underdog is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. The under is 21-10-2 in Golden Knights last 33 games as an underdog. The over is 3-1-1 in Sharks last 5 overall.
The Vegas Golden Knights have dropped the puck these last few games with some frustrating losses and they're on the end of a back to back. However, it's crazy to me why Vegas is an underdog in this spot against a San Jose Sharks club that's lost seven straight and has given up four or more goals in seven of their last eight games. These teams also played a couple of weeks ago in San Jose and Vegas won 7-3 as a +160 underdog. I'm going to take a stab with the plus money, as laying juice with a team that's lost seven straight doesn't seem ideal.
