Monday NHL action features the Vegas Golden Knights visiting the San Jose Sharks for game three.
The Vegas Golden Knight saw an opportunity at a 2-0 series lead go by the wayside in a 4-3, double overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks in game two. William Karlsson gave Vegas a 1-0 lead with just under two minutes remaining in the first before doubling the advantage just 26 seconds in to the second.
Nate Schmidt scored in the third at 13:28 to forge a 3-3 tie and send the game to overtime. Schmidt also gave the Golden Knights an assist with Marc-Andre Fleury absorbing the loss four goals given up on 47 shots.
The desperate Sharks rallied from a 2-0 deficit with three second period goals with Brent Burns beginning the rally with a power play tally at the two minute mark. Logan Couture netted the equalizer at 11:08 with Burns scoring his second at 14:07 to give San Jose the lead.
Couture scored at 5:13 in the second overtime with the man advantage to bring San Jose home with a 1-1 series tie. Joe Pavelski gave the Sharks a pair of helpers with Burns adding an assist on the winner to make the 26 save performance of Martin Jones hold up.
