The Line: San Jose Sharks -159 / Vegas Golden Knights +123 --- Over/Under:
The Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks meet Sunday in game six of the NHL Western Conference playoffs at the SAP Center.
The Vegas Golden Knights will advance to the Western Conference Finals with their fourth playoff road victory. The Vegas Golden Knights are averaging 3.3 goals per game and are scoring on 21.4 percent of their power play opportunities. William Karlsson leads Las Vegas with four goals, Reilly Smith has nine assists and Jonathan Marchessault has 39 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 81.4 percent of their opponents power plays. Marc-Andre Fleury has given up 17 goals on 316 shots faced. The Vegas Golden Knights have allowed three or more goals in each of their last four games.
The San Jose Sharks need a victory here in order to force a game seven on Tuesday. The San Jose Sharks are averaging three goals per game and are scoring on 20.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Tomas Hertl leads San Jose with six goals, Logan Couture has eight assists and Joe Pavelski has 28 shots on goal. Defensively, the San Jose Sharks are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 84.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Aaron Dell has given up two goals on 28 shots faced and Martin Jones has allowed 20 goals on 272 shots. The San Jose Sharks have allowed three or more goals in four of their last five games.
The Golden Knights are 11-1 in their last 12 Sunday games, 35-17 in their last 52 games playing on 1 days rest and 7-2 in their last 9 overall. The Sharks are 5-2 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest, 22-6 in their last 28 vs. Pacific and 8-3 in their last 11 home games. The home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
This series has been so back and forth and it seems like the previous game means nothing heading into the next contest, as neither team has been able to seperate itself. The home team has also been on the winning side in six of the nine meetings between the Golden Knights and Sharks. So, based on everything, the San Jose Sharks should be the favorite and probably should win based on the trends. However, I can't turn down Vegas and the plus money. Vegas has had a great deal of offensive success in this series and has made us a ton of money this season, especially as underdogs. In fact, the Vegas Golden Knights have won 15 of their last 22 games when an underdog. Just blindly backing that trend, you're going to make money. So, based on the value, I'm backing the Golden Knights to end this series.
