The Line: St. Louis Blues -215 / Arizona Coyotes +191 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Scottrade Center and the St. Louis Blues welcome the Arizona Coyotes to town for an NHL matchup.
The Arizona Coyotes have been struggling the entire 2017-18 campaign but the team has been competitive at times. Arizona has lost five in a row with three losses in shootouts and one in overtime. The Coyotes come in off of a 3-2 SO defeat at the Nashville Predators with Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Brendan Perlini supplying the offense with Antti Raanta stopped 37 shots.
The Predators saw goals off the sticks of Scott Hartnell and Ryan Ellis with Ellis scoring with 2:36 remaining in regulation. Roman Josi gave Nashville a pair of helpers with Kyle Turris and Craig Smith scoring in the shootout. Nashville received 27 saves from Pekka Rinne who upped his record to 22-8-3.
The St. Louis Blues have followed a three game skid where 17 goals were allowed with consecutive victories with two goals given up. St. Louis defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-1 on Thursday night behind strong performances at both ends of the ice. The Senators lone goal was a second period tally from Bobby Ryan with Craig Andersen allowing three goals on 36 shots.
St. Louis took a 3-0 lead in the second period on goals from Vladimir Tarasenko, Alex Pietrangelo and Brayden Schenn while Alexander Steen scored on the empty net with 1:18 remaining. Steen and Schenn also added assists to make a winner of Carter Hutton and his 20 stops.
Under is 6-0 in Coyotes last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and under is 13-3 in Coyotes last 16 games playing on 1 days rest and Coyotes are 19-68 in their last 87 vs. Central. Under is 11-1 in Blues last 12 home games and under is 19-4-3 in Blues last 26 vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and Blues are 42-10 in their last 52 vs. a team with a winning % below .400. Coyotes are 0-6 in the last 6 meetings in St. Louis and under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and under is 8-1-2 in the last 11 meetings in St. Louis.
The Blues have enjoyed quite a bit of success in this matchup so I’d do something on the Blues to knock down the juice…
