The Boston Bruins look to stay red hot on the road as they head into St. Louis for a show down against the Blues on Wednesday night.
The Bruins look for their seventh straight Wednesday night victory in a pivotal show down against another playoff hopeful in the St. Louis Blues who will be out for a statement win at home, and they have been very successful against Atlantic division opponents which might not bode well here for the B’s. Boston comes into tonight’s game sitting five points back of the Lightning for top spot in the division but with two games in hand they still have a chance of winning the Atlantic and avoid a first round series with the dangerous Toronto Maple Leafs who are due to have one of the game’s best players back in a week or so. The Bruins are an impressive 20-10-4 on the road this season and are a confident bunch playing in any building, especially against some of the league’s top teams.
The Blues meanwhile are fighting tooth and nail just to get into a playoff position as they are three points back of the Ducks for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and with a 4-1 mark in their last five games they are on a roll at the right time. However, the Blues haven’t done well playing rested as they are winless in their last five on two day’s rest and will face off against a Bruins side that is 39-15 in their last 54 contests and is really looking like a Cup contender in the Eastern Conference. St. Louis has had success in this series though as they are 18-8-1 in their last 27 contests against the Bruins and when the line comes out we will likely see them as slight home favourites.
The Bruins are 21-6 in their last 27 playing on one day’s rest and are 19-8 in their last 27 road games while the Blues are 7-2 in their last nine against the East and 65-31 in their last 96 against the Atlantic. Boston to me is the better team and while St. Louis is usually good at home I like the value of the Bruins tonight.
