The Blues look to avoid their third loss in a row and seventh in their last 10 as they welcome the Flames to town in a pivotal match up.
The Flames have won back to back games since their loss on the road against he Wild last week and are right back in the mix in the Pacific division currently occupying the third and final automatic berth and sitting three points up on the LA Kings. Calgary has been one of the league's biggest surprises this season as they have gone from being a league doormat to knocking on the door of the playoffs and it would be great to see this group get in as they have been resilient all season long, but the road to getting there isn't a pleasurable one for the Flames. Jonas Hiller gets the nod in goal as he will go up against Jake Allen.
The Blues meanwhile still have the Central division crown on their minds and getting that first spot is so crucial as it would mean avoiding the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round and setting up a date with one of the two wild card teams. St. Louis has picked a poor time to play their worst hockey of the season though and if they back into the postseason they could once again fall by the wayside much earlier than anticipated like they did a year ago. St. Louis will go with Allen tonight as Brian Elliott gets the night off and while a lot of people are concerned with this tandem heading into the playoffs as neither is seen as a bona fide number one they have impressive stats and plenty of big game experience. While this is a much needed win for Calgary the Blues know how important this one is as well and I think they break out of their funk and get back in the win column.
