The Hurricanes look to improve on their dismal road record as they head into St. Louis to take on one of the league's best teams.
Carolina is coming off a rather impressive home ice victory but you have to consider they were playing against the Buffalo Sabres and the credibility slowly fades away but if they can match that result here against the Blues then we can talk about a possible resurgence for the Canes this season. The Hurricanes head into St. Louis to take on the Blues with a 4-16-2 mark on the road which ties those Sabres for the league's worst mark away from home and the matchup doesn't get easier here as the Blues are 14-4-1 at home and have won three games in a row after a sloppy 10 game stretch where they went just 1-5-4. The Canes do have some talent but they are way outmatched here and on most nighrts and I think by season's end they will have a very different look as we can expect plenty of movement at the trade deadline which could involve both goaltender Cam Ward and captain Eric Staal.
The Blues look like they're back on track after an ugly stretch a couple weeks ago and heading into tonight's game they sit in third place in the Central and are just five points back of the Ducks and Predators for the Western Conference lead. St. Louis were big winners in the offseason by bringing in Paul Stastny and while he hasn't had the year he envisioned he will certainly be a factor down the stretch and if the Blues can bring a piece in they will certainly challenge for the Stanley Cup as they have the makeup of a championship roster. They have been dynamite in their three game winning streak and the Canes don't pose much of a threat for it to end and the price actually isn't as absurd as I had predicted based on the Buffalo-Tampa line from yesterday so taking them in regulation here is decent.
