The Chicago Blackhawks visit the St. Louis Blues in a Wednesday night NHL matchup.
The Chicago Blackhawks look to continue their early season success when the team visits the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. Chicago bounced back from their first loss at home to down the Nashville Predators 2-1 in overtime on Saturday.
The Predators took a 1-0 lead late in the second on a Filip Forsberg power play tally and that lead held up until just over 5 ½ minutes remained in the third period when Patrick Sharp scored the equalizer for the Blackhawks. Brandon Saad gave Chicago the win with his goal at 3:05 of the extra session.
Predators goalie Pekka Rinne recorded 33 saves in absorbing the loss to fall to 2-1-1 while Corey Crawford brushed aside 37 shots including four in overtime to get the victory and up his record to 4-1.
The St. Louis Blues return home following a four game east coast swing to take the ice with the Chicago Blackhawks. St. Louis is coming in off of back to back defeats after dropping a 2-1 decision at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
Tyler Johnson gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead in the second with the man advantage and Nikita Kucherov upped the lead to 2-0 in the third period. The Blues gave themselves a chance when Vladimir Tarasenko lit the lamp with just 3 ½ minutes remained in the game but were unable to find he equalizer.
Jake Allen took the loss with both goals given up on 27 shots to fall to 3-2 while the win went to Andre Vasilevskiy who stopped 28 shots.
