The Blackhawks look to get one in the win column on Friday night as they take on the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center.
The Chicago Blackhawks did everything in their power in the defensive zone to keep the well balanced St. Louis offense in check but they couldn’t break through at the other end and their fate was sealed on a sloppy bounce in front of the net that stood up as the overtime winner. The Hawks are the defending champions and will get the reigning Conn Smythe winner back as Duncan Keith returns from suspension and with a six game layoff you can be sure he will be ready to log a ton of minutes in order to get his team back in this series. The Hawks need to get rolling offensively and will have to find a way to solve Brian Elliott which is easier said than done as he has been brilliant this season.
The Blues moved one step closer to ridding of their playoff demons on Wednesday night as they scored the overtime winner off the stick of David Backes and now have a chance to head into the United Center with a 2-0 lead. The Blues were one of the league’s best diring the regular season and have become a mainstay in the playoffs over the years but they have never been able to get over the hump and go on a serious Cup run but if they can get it done against the Hawks in the first round it would give them a ton of confidence moving forward. This series is shaping up to go the distance and while Chicago was held in check in game one I think they rebound here and even the series.
