|Date & Time||Thursday March 15, 2018, 8:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: St. Louis Blues -160 / Colorado Avalanche +140 --- Over/Under: 5.5
NHL action comes to the Scottrade Center where the St. Louis Blues host the Colorado Avalanche.
The Colorado Avalanche need to solidify their spot in the standings with the postseason approaching. Colorado has an opportunity for a three game winning streak following a 5-1 rout of Minnesota on the road with Mikko Koivu scoring in the second for the Wild while Devan Dubnyk allowed five goals on 22 shots.
JT Compher topped the Avalanche with a pair of goals with Nikita Nikita Zadorov, Natham MacKinnon and Tyson Jost also reaching the scoring column. Eleven different players recorded points for Colorado to make the 33 stops of Semyon Varlamov a winner.
The St. Louis Blues recent month long slump dropped the team from being a certain playoff participant to one that is fighting to survive. St. Louis has won consecutive contests following a 4-2 victory at Anaheim where where Corey Perry and Derek Grant accounted for the scoring.
St. Louis saw four different players score with Robert Bartuzzo, Ivan Barbashev, Vladimir Sobotka and Patrik Berglund all reaching the scoring column. Barbashev gave the Blues an assist as well and Alex Pietrangelo posted a pair of helpers to make a winner of Jake Allen and his 20 stops while John Gibson allowed four goals on 23 shots.
Over is 3-0-1 in Avalanche last 4 games following a win and over is 5-0-1 in Avalanche last 6 vs. a team with a winning record and over is 3-0-1 in Avalanche last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Blues are 0-6 in their last 6 vs. Central and Blues are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and under is 11-1 in Blues last 12 Thursday games. Avalanche are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Avalanche are 6-18 in the last 24 meetings in St. Louis.
I don’t know what the near future holds for the Blues but it won’t be a postseason berth if the team can’t win these type of games…
