The Blues look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead as they play a pivotal game four on home ice against the Central division winning Dallas Stars.
The Stars look to rebound after a sluggish effort in game three and they’ll need to get some kind of spark out of their goaltending that has been dismal in these playoffs and has resulted in both of their net minders being pulled from the last two outings. Dallas does have a very strong offensive arsenal and have had to use it through the first three games of this series but they haven’t been able to counter the attack of the Blues that isn’t as potent but is deeper across the board. Kari Lehtonen will likely get the call here as neither he nor Antii Niemi have been able to seize the starting role, which in the playoffs is a terrible problem to have as the lack of consistency is a cause for concern.
The Blues meanwhile are on cloud nine after a game two victory and can seize home ice advantage with a victory here in game four that would put them in the driver’s seat to advance to the Western Conference final. St. Louis has been playing very well and have ridden the momentum of their opening round series win over the Blackhawks to a current 2-1 lead here against the top seeded Stars and if they can find a way to keep the Dallas offense in check they will be in very good shape as the Stars can’t seem to keep anything out of their net at the moment. Dallas needs to respond here and while the Blues are the better team overall in my opinion, the Stars should get back in the win column with a big effort from Jamie Benn.
