The Blues look to book their ticket to the Western Conference Final as they return home for a potential series clinching game six.
The Stars have their backs against the wall heading into St. Louis on Monday as they spoiled a glorious opportunity on home ice on Saturday afternoon and now they have no room for error as they are in a win or go home mode for the next two games. Dallas has a ton of offensive weapons but the absence of Tyler Seguin has certainly been felt and he is likely out for the remainder of this series and could be even longer if the Stars somehow play their way out of this one. Dallas has had a lot of difficulty keeping the puck of their net in this series as they have been woeful in the defensive zone and neither Kari Lehtonen nor Antii Niemi has played well enough to cease the starting job and both have been yanked from games in this series.
The Blues meanwhile are in the driver’s seat and have be excited with the prospect of advancing to the Western Conference final in front of their home fans on Monday. St. Louis outlasted the reigning Cup champs from Chicago in the opening round and have harnessed that momentum into their second round series with the Stars and now are just one win away from ousting both of their division rivals and being crowned Central division playoff champions. The Blues are favoured in this game and for good reason as they have been the better team and in an elimination game I will side with the better goaltender who in this series has been Brian Elliott.
