The Red Wings look for their second straight victory as they head into St. Louis to meet up with the Blues.
The Detroit Red Wings played to one of their best wins of the season last night as they outlasted the LA Kings at the Joe in what was a 3-2 final highlighted by a great outing from goaltender Petr Mrazek. The Wings now have a bit of a controversy on their hands as they have paid to have Jimmy Howard as their every day starter but he is being outplayed by Mrazek and at this point in the season the Wings have to make a decision and going forward it looks like the latter is the better of the two options despite Howard getting the nod in this one. Detroit is 5-3-1 on the road this season but take on a Blues team that is 6-2-1 in St. Louis this season.
The Blues are right in the mix in the Central division as they enter action on Saturday sporting a 13-6-1 record and are just five points back of the Stars for top spot in the West. St. Louis is a nice team that has a ton of right now type of talent and a ton of pieces to build on moving forward and while they have always had the pedigree to make a deep playoff push they haven't been able to break through and have gone out prematurely each of the last few seasons. St. Louis is at a Cup-or-bust stage and I think they have a great shot to get there and in this one tonight the Wings are in a tough spot in a back to back and with Howard set up in this position I think the Blues take advantage and help decide the Detroit goalie carousel.
