The Nashville Predators look to shake off a loss at home to the Chicago Blackhawks last night as they take to the road to battle the St. Louis Blues on Friday.
The Predators look to snap out of their ugly funk when playing on back to back nights as they travel into St. Louis to face off against the Blues who have been downright awful of late and aren’t looking like the playoff contender we have come to expect from them over the years. Nashville has never really been a strong road team and of late they are a woeful 8-20 away from home and if they’re going to jump into the mix in the Central division they are going to have to rectify their struggles on the road as that is a great sign of a very good team. The Preds don’t have a ton of scoring options which is bad news against the Blues who have a ton of depth up top and a solid back end, though they haven’t been playing like it of late.
The Blues have dropped five of their last six games against the Western Conference and four of their last five against divisional opponents so they know they need to take advantage of the Preds playing on back to back nights and get a win here. St. Louis has the makeup of a playoff contender but so far they have underachieved a bit and need to turn things around in a hurry or else they will get left behind by some of the league’s top teams that are battling it out atop the division standings. Pekka Rinne is projected to get the start as he will face off against Jake Allen.
The Preds are 3-7 in their last 20 Friday games and 1-5 in their last six against the Western Conference while the Blues are 12-4 in their last 16 home games and 1-4 in their last five against the Central. Nashville needs to find a way to win here but the Blues are the better team and at home with some rest I give them the edge.
