The Senators look to rebound after a loss in Chicago last night as they continue their Central division road trip in St. Louis in a battle with the Blues.
The Ottawa Senators had a great opportunity to make up some ground in the Atlantic division on Sunday but a loss at the United Center to the Hawks has them in a stand still as they have lost three games in a row and now sit in sixth place. Ottawa was expected to be in the running for a playoff spot and while they are still very much in the picture they haven’t had the season many expected and much of it lies in their defensive short comings despite having the reigning Norris Trophy winner in Erik Karlsson on the roster. The Sens will turn to Craig Anderson in this one as they look to get back on track against a Blues team that sits in third in the Central and has lost back to back contests.
The Blues have had a tough stretch over the last week or so but remain in the hunt for a top end playoff spot in the competitive Central division and they catch a break here as they host the Sens on Monday who haven’t been able to keep the puck out of their net of late. St. Louis is coming off a tough loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs and will be looking to take their frustrations out here as Jake Allen will get the nod and with the Blues’ 13-7-2 home record on the line you can be sure he will be out to give his team a chance to win. The Sens have been uninspiring of late and while I expect them to put up a better fight here I just don’t see them having enough to compete with St. Louis’ offense.
