The Lightning look to spoil the party in St. Louis on Tuesday night as the two Cup contenders meet up for a heavyweight tilt.
The Tampa Bay Lightning head into St. Louis on Tuesday night looking for their sixth win of the season and to trim the Atlantic lead held by the Canadiens but against the Blues they know it'll be a tough out, especially in the offensive zone. Tampa is one of the best scoring teams in the league and while they haven't been able to get going with consistency yet so far that is bound to change moving forward as they have a ton of weapons and can match up against anyone in the NHL. The Bolts will go with Ben Bishop here as he will square off against Jake Allen who has had a bit of a rocky start but remains in a time share with Brian Elliott between the pipes.
The Blues meanwhile are coming off an overtime loss and are 5-2-1 on the season which has them in fifth place in a jam packed Central division. St. Louis is built from the back forward as they have one of the best defensive units in hockey and with so much depth up front this is a team to watch out for come playoff time if they can shake the label as being a playoff underachiever. The Blues are a good team but do need some other pieces if they are going to make that run and in the mean time they'll have to compete with the league's best with what they have which is certainly more than serviceable. However, I think the edge in this one goes to Tampa as they have the better goaltender and at the price we are getting they are worth a shot.
