The Blues look to retake top spot in the Central and inch closer to a playoff spot as they host the Canucks in St. Louis on Friday night.
The Vancouver Canucks look to shake off an overtime loss in Nashville last night as they continue their road trip into St. Louis on Friday as they take on a Blues side looking to punch their ticket to hockey’s second season. Vancouver has had a tough season as they sit tied with the Edmonton Oilers for the worst record in the Western Conference and if their nose dive continues for the final nine games they could very well land the top overall draft pick in the off season. The Canucks do have some nice young pieces that will be a part of the landscape moving forward but they also need to move on from some of their longstanding mainstays and that includes Daniel and Henrik Sedin. Jakob Markstrom is expected to get the call here as he will face off against Brian Elliott.
The Blues meanwhile sit in second place in the Central and trail the Stars by just two points with a game in hand and could very well land the top seed in the Western Conference by the end of the regular season. St. Louis has quietly gone about their business and have flown under the radar somehow as teams like Dallas, Washington, and Los Angeles have stolen most of the headlines but perhaps it is the Blues who will have the final headline as Stanley Cup champions in a few month’s time. St. Louis is very deep and with the Canucks in a back to back here I don’t think they have a chance as the Blues cruise to an easy win.
