The Lightning and Rangers do battle at MSG on Friday night with both teams looking to advance to the Stanley Cup finals.
The Lightning spoiled a great opportunity to clinch the Eastern Conference on home ice this week as they had the Rangers on the ropes but in a game where they absolutely needed to win the Rangers put up seven goals and chased Ben Bishop from the net. Now, the Lightning need a rebound effort much like they did in game five and get Bishop back in the win column or else their magical season will come to an end in the Eastern Conference Finals and they will be forced to go back to the drawing board heading into the offseason. Tampa is a very good team and do match up well against the Rangers but it will be tough picking especially in an elimination game against Henrik Lundqvist who continues to show he is one of the best goalies in the world.
The Rangers have a chance to repeat as Eastern Conference champions and advance back to finish last year's mission as Stanley Cup champions but they have a determined team standing in their way and one that was embarrassed on home ice just two nights ago. New York has been as resilient as they come over the last couple of seasons and always seem to step up their game when it matters most which make them a trendy pick and a heavy favourite in this game and for good reason. However, the value here is on the road team and Tampa has found success at MSG already in this series and as the team I had winning the East at the start of the playoffs I will not abandon ship now.
