The Anaheim Ducks look to snap their ugly road losing skid as they head into Tampa Bay to face off with the Lightning on Tuesday night.
The Ducks are in the midst of an ugly slump at the moment and most of their futility has come on the road as they have lost 6 games in a row outside of Anaheim and face off against one of the league’s best teams in Tampa Bay. The Ducks looked as though they were going to turn a corner this season and even through their misery they have received some great goaltending from John Gibson, but overall they just don’t seem to have the same level of talent as most other competitors in the Pacific division. Gibson is expected to get the start here as he will face off against Louis Domingue who continues to relieve Andrei Vasilevskiy in the Tampa goal.
The Lightning meanwhile have been business as usual so far this season as they are right there among the league’s elite and even without one of the best goalies in the league at the moment they are continuing to beat teams up at will. The Bolts are a staggering 45-9 in their last 54 games when their opponent scores two goals or fewer in their previous game so they have really come to figure out how to keep a team in an offensive rut. Tampa is also 6-2 in their last 8 games following a win and are 5-1 in their last 6 meetings at home against the Ducks and the odds makers are expecting much of the same as the Lightning are huge home favourites.
The Ducks are 5-13 in their last 18 overall and winless in their last 4 games on a Tuesday while the Lightning are 47-19 in their last 66 home games and 5-0 in their last 5 against a team with a losing record. Anaheim is in tough here and while it is worth taking a shot on any team at this price the Lightning shouldn’t have much issue so a regulation play is the best bet.
