The Calgary Flames and Tampa Bay Lightning meet up in Florida on Tuesday night in a potential Stanley Cup preview.

The Flames head into Tampa Bay looking to continue their strong play and jockey for positioning in the race for top spot in the Western Conference as they face off against a Tampa Bay side who is the front runner for the President’s Trophy at this point in the season. Calgary and Tampa met up in the 2004 Stanley Cup and many have the two old rivals on a crash course to meet in this year’s championship series as well as both are loaded up front with offensive weapons and both have a more than serviceable blue line that often gets overlooked. The Flames are likely to keep rolling with David Rittich who has supplanted Mike Smith as the team’s starting goaltender and he is expected to get the nod here as he will face off against former Vezina Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy.

The Lightning have been on a tear this season as they are a staggering 40-14 in their last 54 games and are really looking like a legitimate threat to win the Stanley Cup as they have some of the game’s most skilled players. Tampa has also had their way with the Flames over the years as they are 13-6 in their last 19 meetings but the road team has won 5 in a row in this series and the Flames are playing as well as anyone in the league right now and should be considered in this spot. Tampa Bay is 6-2 in their last 8 games against the Pacific division and are 58-23 in their last 81 home games but the Flames an impressive 11-5 in their last 16 games on the road.

The Flames are 3-11 in their last 14 road games against stingy home ice foes and have hit the Over in 14 of their last 16 games while the Bolts are 39-13 in their last 52 games as a favorite and have hit the Over in 5 of their last 8 against the Pacific. This one figures to be a very tightly contested game and while it Is never wise betting against Tampa we are getting one of the league’s best teams at a ridiculous price and they are worth a shot here
