Thursday NHL action features the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the Carolina Hurricanes.

The surging Carolina Hurricanes have won five in a row after outlasting the NY Islanders 4-3 on the road Tuesday. New York saw Brock Nelson score twice with Devon Toews adding a marker. Nelson posted two assists and Thomas Greiss gave up four goals on 24 shots to get the loss for the Islanders.

The balanced Carolina attack feature scoring off the sticks of Saku Maenalanen, Greg McKegg, Justin Williams and Jacob Slavin. Victor Rask gave the Hurricanes a pair of assists to make a winner of Curtis McElhinney and his 28 stops.

The red hot Tampa Bay Lightning have racked up wins in nine of eleven after shutting down visiting Columbus 4-0 on Tuesday. Columbus couldn’t crack the scoreboard and Sergei Bobrovsky gave up four goals on 19 shots.

The Lightning saw Brayden Point light the lamp twice with Mathieu Joseph and Nikita Kucherov adding markers. Kucherov and Mikhail Joseph each assisted twice and Andrei Vasilevskiy brushed aside 31 shots to get the win for Tampa Bay.
