The Hurricanes look to inch closer to a playoff spot as they take to the road to face off against the Lightning in Tampa Bay.
The Carolina Hurricanes head into Tampa on Saturday night looking to move within four points of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference but they are in tough on the road against the defending East champions. Carolina is a quiet 29-26-10 and while they are likely to fall short of the postseason they have exceeded expectations in most circles and could very well pull off a shocker and sneak into the playoffs. However, with the parting of Eric Staal and a relatively young core it looks like this team is going to move forward with a rebuild and a respectable draft pick is in the cards to help move that process along. Eddie Lack continues to get the call in the Carolina crease as he will face off against Ben Bishop.
The Tampa Bay Lightning head into tonight’s game at home sitting in top spot in the Atlantic but are joined by the Panthers, Bruins, and Red Wings in the chase in what is a very exciting battle between playoff hopefuls. Tampa is 8-2 in their last 10 contests and are 20-10-2 at home this season which bodes well for them here against the Canes who are 13-14-4 on the road this season and with the Bolts holding a big edge in the goaltending battle I think they have more than enough in the tank to get a big win here. Tampa is a pretty heavy favourite so I recommend playing the regulation angle and getting a better payer.
