The Line: Tampa Bay Lightning -245 / Colorado Avalanche +218 --- Over/Under: 6
Thursday night NHL action comes to Amalie Arena where the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Colorado Avalanche.
After struggling the past several seasons the Colorado Avalanche know they can’t let a few losses mount up and turn in to something bigger. Colorado finds themselves in that situation with the team staring at losses in five of six capped off by a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. The Avalanche received a power play goal in the second and third from Nathan MacKinnon but Semyon Varlamov gave up three goals on 34 shots to get the loss.
The struggling Sabres offense was led by Jack Eichel with an empty net tally and a pair of helpers. Evander Kane scored the eventual game winner while both Benoit Pouiliot and Jake McGabe added a goal and assist eeah. Robin Lehner recorded 35 stops to help Buffalo put an end to their four game slide.
The Tampa Bay Lightning had dropped four of six in what many thought was their first signs of weakness thus far but the team has won back to back contests in what is hoped to be a long hot streak. Tampa Bay comes off of a 6-2 rout of the New York Islanders where everything was clicking and New York was unable to counter. Jordan Eberle and Mathew Barzal scored for the NYI and Thomas Greiss made 28 stops in defeat.
The balanced Tampa Bay attack received a pair of goals from Yanni Gourde while Brayden Point, Andrej Sustr, Chris Kunitz and Vladislav Namestnikov also found the back of the net. Nikita Kucherov added a pair of helpers and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 29 shots to lift the Lightning to 19-6-2.
Avalanche are 0-4 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and over is 6-0-1 in Avalanche last 7 Thursday games and over is 5-0 in Avalanche last 5 vs. Atlantic. Lightning are 7-0 in their last 7 vs. Central and Lightning are 8-1 in their last 9 Thursday games and under is 7-1 in Lightning last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. Under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings and road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Tampa Bay.
If you are betting Tampa Bay you have to thing they are going to sting a few more wins together but the juice is outlandish…
