The Tampa Bay Lightning look to shake off a loss to the Canucks in their last outing as they welcome the Blue Jackets to town on Saturday.
The Blue Jackets are red hot to start the season and will look for another statement victory on the road against the Lightning on Saturday night in what some are calling a potential preview of the Eastern Conference final. Columbus is coming off a season in which they established themselves as one of the better teams in the NHL and this year they are looking to take the next step and advance past the second round. The Jackets have a pretty well balanced lineup and one of the best goalies in the NHL in Sergei Bobrovsky and if he can carry the Jackets throughout the season and put up another stellar campaign they could very well pull off the unthinkable and claim their first Stanley Cup.
The Lightning meanwhile are a step ahead of their Saturday night opponents as they are already one of the league’s top teams and are at very worst a co-favourite to win the Stanley Cup this season. Tampa is loaded offensively and are becoming one of the better teams in the defensive zone as well and when you add in the play of Andrei Vasilevskiy who was a Vezina nominee last year they are looking like the complete package. Tampa is coming off a loss at home against the Canucks so you can be sure they will be ready to go in this one and despite Columbus’ talent the Bolts find themselves as big time home favourites on Saturday.
The Blue Jackets are 2-0 on the road so far this season but are winless in their last four Saturday games while the Lightning are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games and are 4-0 in their last four after losing a game at home by three or more goals. Columbus is a very good team but the Lightning are a step ahead and after a loss look for them to rebound on Saturday with a convincing win.
