The Los Angeles Kings and Tampa Bay Lighting meet Saturday in NHL action at the Amalie Arena.
The Los Angeles Kings look to stay hot after winning five of their last six games. The Los Angeles Kings are averaging 2.8 goals per game and are scoring on 19.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Anze Kopitar leads Los Angeles with 21 goals, Drew Doughty has 31 assists and Dustin Brown has 139 shots on goal. Defensively, the Los Angeles Kings are allowing 2.4 goals per game and are killing 85.2 percent of their opponents power plays. Jonathan Quick has given up 97 goals on 1,198 shots faced and Darcy Kuemper has allowed 26 goals on 448 shots. The Los Angeles Kings have allowed two or less goals in seven of their last nine games.
The Tampa Bay Lighting look for another victory after winning six of their last eight games. The Tampa Bay Lighting are averaging 3.6 goals per game and are scoring on 24.1 percent of their power play opportunities. Nikita Kucherov leads Tampa Bay with 28 goals, Steven Stamkos has 42 assists and Brayden Point has 138 shots on goal. Defensively, the Tampa Bay Lighting are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 78.2 percent of their opponents power plays. Andrei Vasilevskiy has given up 100 goals on 1,406 shots faced and Peter Budaj has allowed 26 goals on 213 shots. The Tampa Bay Lighting have allowed three or less goals in six of their last eight games.
The Kings are 20-9 in their last 29 Saturday games, 19-8 in their last 27 vs. Eastern Conference and 4-1 in their last 5 overall. The Lightning are 20-6 in their last 26 home games, 20-7 in their last 27 vs. Western Conference and 45-19 in their last 64 overall. The Kings are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and the under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Tampa Bay Lighting are argubaly the best team in the game right now, are nearly unbeatable at home and are catching the Kings on the end of a back to back. However, this line seems a bit crazy when you consider how well the Los Angeles Kings are playing right now and the defense that has improved the last couple of weeks. We're getting almost two times our money with a team that's playing well. I have to take a shot here based on the value.
