The Tampa Bay Lightning ran their winning streak to eight games after squeezing by visiting Buffalo 2-1 in a shootout on Thursday. Rasmus Dahlin scored a first period goal for Buffalo but the team was shutout in the shootout and Carter Hutton made 39 saves to salvage a point.
Nikita Kucherov lit the lamp in the second period on an assist from Tyler Johnson. Steven Stamkos and Kucherov scored in the shootout for the Lightning who saw Andrei Vasilevskiy record 29 saves.
