The Lightning continue their pursuit of the Atlantic division crown as they host the New Jersey Devils in Tampa on Saturday.
The New Jersey Devils face off against the Lightning on Saturday looking to keep their miniscule playoff hopes intact as they take on a Lightning side that is in a battle for a division crown in a game that should actually be very exciting to watch. The Devils have had a pretty successful season considering they were expected to be league doormats but thanks to another great year from Cory Schneider and some well balanced offense the Devils made a serious push at a wild card spot but it looks as though they are going to run out of time as they have just four games left in the regular season with seven points to make up. Schneider is expected to get the call here as he will face off against Ben Bishop.
The Bolts are right in the mix to claim top spot in the Atlantic division as they sit just two points back of the Florida Panthers with five games remaining and they have a great chance at pulling even in this one. Tampa is 44-28-5 this season and are the defending Eastern Conference champions but they haven’t had the same level of success that we saw in last year’s playoffs and it’ll be interesting to see how they match up in the playoffs this season. Despite a log jammed race in the division, none of the teams have yet to clinch a playoff spot and until game 82 is in the books it looks as though nothing will be decided in what is one of the most exciting division battles in recent memory. This should be a great game and while I am a fan of how Schneider plays in the crease I just don’t see enough here as Tampa gets the win at home.
