The New York Islanders look to get back in the win column after a 4-3 SO loss to visiting Montreal on Monday ended a five game winning streak. Casey Cizkas led the Islanders with a pair of first period goals with Valtteri Filppula also scoring in the first. New York failed to score in the SO and Thomas Greiss stopped 32 shots to secure a point.
The Canadiens offense came off the sticks of Jonathan Drouin, Max Domi and Noah Juulsen in regulation. Joel Armia scored the only goal of the shootout in the 5th round to lift Montreal and make a winner of Antti Niemi and his 21 saves.
The Tampa Bay Lightning sit atop the Atlantic standings after a 5-2 victory against Edmonton Tuesday gave the team a three game winning streak. Ryan Strome and Leon Draisaitl scored for Edmonton and Mikko Koskinen gave up all five goals on 36 shots to get the loss.
Nikita Kucherov paced the Tampa Bay offense with a pair of goals with Steven Stamkos, Yanni Gourde and Brayden Point all lighting the lamp. Stamkos gave the Lightning a pair of assists and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 34 shots to pick up the win.
