The St. Louis Blues head to the Sunshine State to tangle with the Tampa Bay Lightning in NHL action on Saturday.
The St. Louis Blues look to continue their hot start when the team visits the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. St. Louis had won four in a row before falling 5-2 at the Florida Panthers on Thursday for their first loss.
Florida had too many options at the offensive end of the ice with Ian McCoshen, Nick Bjugstad, Jared McCann, Vincent Trocheck and Aaron Ekblad all lighting the lamp while Connor Brickley added two assists. Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo stopped a hefty 37 shots to help the Panthers to the win.
The Blues offense came from Paul Stastny and Vince Dunn for his first career NHL goal while Alex Pietrangelo posted assists on each. That wasn’t enough for St. Louis netminder Jake Allen who was charged with all five goals in absorbing the loss.
The Tampa Bay Lightning take the ice with the visiting St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Tampa bay has been lighting up the scoreboard with 22 goals in building a 4-1 record. The Lightning did plenty of scoring in a 5-4 win at the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Tampa Bay saw Slater Koekkoek score twice with Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman also light the lamp while Alex Killorn posted four assists. The Pittsburgh attack received scoring from Matt Hunwick, Conor Sheary, Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel. Antti Niemi tok the loss with 29 saves while Andrei Vasileveskiy gave the Bolts the win with 36 stops.
Over is 3-0-1 in Blues last 4 Saturday games and under is 4-0 in Blues last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Blues are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Central and over is 6-0 in Lightning last 6 overall and over is 5-0 in Lightning last 5 home games. Blues are 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Tampa Bay and home team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
The way Tampa Bay is scoring I am leaning on the over where both teams will contribute…
