The Toronto Maple Leafs look to make a statement on the road as they head into Tampa Bay to face off against the Lightning on Thursday.
The Leafs look to continue their success away from home as they face off against another Cup contender and their division rivals from Tampa Bay on Thursday night in what is certainly a marquee game at this juncture of the season. Toronto has been one of the league’s best teams this season and their offense got even more dynamic with the return of William Nylander who had been holding out since the season started. The Buds are 12-4 in their last 16 road games but they have struggled against the Bolts as they are just 2-7 in their last 9 trips to Tampa Bay and will need a strong effort from Frederik Andersen as he will match up against Louis Domingue who will get the call for Tampa.
The Lightning meanwhile have been red hot and will look to continue that dominance with a big home ice victory against the Leafs and in the process claim their 7th win in a row. The Bolts are 27-7 in their last 34 Thursday games and are 51-20 in their last 71 home games which is an impressive mark for just short of two season’s and a win here would put them in the discussion as the team to beat in the East. Tampa Bay has played to the Over in 8 of their last 10 games against the Eastern Conference while Toronto has clipped the Over mark in 18 of their last 27 games on the road.
The Maple Leafs are 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and just 2-6 in their last 8 games on Thursday while the Lightning are 41-16 in their last 57 against the Atlantic. This is going to be a very exciting game to watch but the Leafs have the edge in the crease and as a road dog they get it done.
