NHL hockey comes to Amalie Arena when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Florida Panthers are still holding out hope of securing a spot in the playoffs so every point they can get their hands on is valuable. The Panthers had no problem getting two on Tuesday with a monster 7-2 victory versus the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs. James Reimer controlled the dangerous Maple Leafs scoring with a 28 save performance with Jonathan Marchessault scoring twice with Jussi Jokinen, Keith Yandle, Reilly Smith and Colton Sceviour also finding the back of the net. The Maple Leafs offense came off the sticks of Leo Komarov and Nikita Soshnikov but that wasn’t enough with Frederik Andersen allowing three goals in just eight shots before being lifted for Curtis McElhinney.
The Tama Bay Lightning haven’t been mentioned a whole lot this season so they are trying to change that with a late season run at the postseason. The Lightning picked up two points with a 2-1, overtime win at the surging Ottawa Senators. The Senators also received a point which moved the club to within a point of first place Montreal in the Atlantic Division while Tampa Bay is tied for the second Wild Card with the New York Islanders. Victor Hedman was the offensive star for the Lightning with his goal in the extra session with Brayden Point scoring in regulation to support Andrei Vasilevskiy and his 31 stops that helped extend Tampa Bay’s winning streak to four games. Tommy Wingels scored the only goal for the Senators while Mike Condon stopped 35 shots in defeat.
The Maple Leafs are 1-6 in their last 7 Thursday games and the under is 4-1 in Maple Leafs last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-1 in Maple Leafs last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and the Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 overall while the under is 6-0 in Lightning last 6 overall. The under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Tampa Bay and the Maple Leafs are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Tampa Bay while the under is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Lightning have been a strong side against the Maple Leafs at home and the under has been a strong total. Pending goalie confirmation my lean is the Lightning…
