The Canucks look to complete the Florida sweep after a win against the Panthers last night as they head to Tampa Bay to face the Atlantic leading Lightning.
The Canucks have ripped off four straight wins including last night's win in Sunrise and goaltender Ryan Miller was one bounce away from registering his third consecutive shutout and now they'll look to take another step forward with a win on the road against the Bolts. Vancouver has had a complete rebound this season and are back in the playoff fold and while a division title seems far fetched thanks to Anaheim's ridiculous season the Canucks can feel confident they will lock up a wild card berth at the absolute worst. Vancouver will likely turn to Eddie Lack in this one after Miller has played the last handful of games including last night and while Miller is clearly the better option of the two it isn't as if Lack is a sieve that can't be trusted and Vancouver knows that more than anybody. Lack or Miller will go up against Ben Bishop who has been confirmed as tonight's starter for the Lightning.
Tampa will look to hold off the fast charging Red Wings and Canadiens in the Atlantic division and distance themselves with a victory but they know it'll be a tough task against a Vancouver team that heading into this game sits just five points back of Tampa Bay. The Bolts have been one of the league's most consistent teams this season and they have built on last year's success that despite resulting in a four game sweep in the opening round of the playoffs was a huge learning experience for the plethora of young talent on the Lightning roster. Tyler Johnson has been sensational alongside Steven Stamkos this year and while many point out that a pedestrian could put up numbers on Stamkos' line Johnson is actually a great talent that will be in place with this group for a long time to come. This is going to be a great game and while I have been riding the Canucks in their winning streak I am jumping ship here as Bishop makes the difference and gives Tampa the win.
