The Line: Tampa Bay Lightning -253 / Vancouver Canucks +225 --- Over/Under: 5.5
Thursday night NHL action features the Tampa Bay Lightning hosting the Vancouver Canucks.
The Vancouver Canucks needed a long hot streak to resurrect their postseason hopes but have followed a two game winning streak with back to back defeats. Vancouver comes off of a 3-1 loss at the Florida Panthers where Markus Granlund’s shorthanded tally was the lone bright spot for the offense.
Jamie McGinn opened the scoring for the Panthers with a first period power play goal before Aleksander Barkov scored the eventual winner in the second and added an empty netter with 42 seconds remaining. Harri Sateri picked up the win for Florida with 26 saves while Jacob Markstrom took the loss with 37 saves.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have continued to be one of the most consistent teams in the game as they try to secure the top seed in the playoffs. Tampa Bay had been playing well before taking one on the chin in a 6-2 loss at Edmonton on Monday. Alex Kilhorn and Yanni Gourde provided the scoring for the Lightning with Andrei Vasilevskiy allowing four goals on 26 shots before Louis Dominigue came on to stop 7-9 shots.
Connor McDavid carried the Oilers offense with four goals while also adding an assist while Iiro Pakarinen and Leon Draisaitl also lit the lamp. Draisaitl also posted a pair of helpers for Edmonton with the win going to Cam Talbot who made 32 saves to up his record to 19-17-2.
Canucks are 0-6 in their last 6 vs. Atlantic and over is 5-1 in Canucks last 6 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and over is 4-1 in Canucks last 5 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Over is 5-1 in Lightning last 6 overall and the over is 5-1 in Lightning last 6 vs. Pacific and Lightning are 22-5 in their last 27 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings and road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
I think Tampa Bay bounces back from a poor performance although the juice has to be knocked down…
