Amalie Arena and the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the Washington Capitals in Saturday action.
The Washington Capitals look for a successful visit to the Sunshine State at the Lightning on Saturday. The Capitals didn't end their homestand on the right foot with neither end of the ice strong enough in a 4-2 loss to the Red Wings on Wednesday night. Troy Brouwer and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored in the second period to give Washington a 2-1 lead heading in to the final 20 minutes but the defense and scoring fell silent the rest of the way. The Red Wings received a pair of tallies from Justin Abdelkader with Gustav Nyquist and Pavel Datsyuk also scoring while Henrik Zetterberg posted a pair of helpers. Jimmy Howard picked up his 4th win of the year with 25 stops while Braden Holtby recorded 18 saves in defeat.
The Tampa Bay Lightning look for another win at the expense of the visiting Washington Capitals on Saturday. The Lightning should have some momentum after knocking off Philadelphia 4-3 on Thursday night to halt the surging Flyers winning streak at three games and up their home record over Philly to 8-0-1 in the last nine match ups. The Lightning received a pair of goals from Steven Stamkos with Jason Garrison and Vladislav Namestnikov also finding the back of the net. Valterri Fippula recorded three assists while Ben Bishop won it with a 24 save performance. Wayne Simmonds, Michael Raffl and Jakub Voracek supplied goals for Philadelphia with Claude Giroux recording a trio of assists which wasn't enough to make Ray Emery's 28 stops a winning performance.
The under is 6-0 in Capitals last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 while the Capitals are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and are 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games. For Tampa Bay the over is 4-0 in Lightning last 4 overall and is 5-1 in Lightning last 6 Saturday games while the Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Metropolitan. Head to head the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Tampa Bay and is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings while the Capitals are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. The trends favor Washington and the over and for now I lean over...
