The Line: Tampa Bay Lightning -150 / Washington Capitals +130 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Washington Capitals visit the Tampa Bay Lightning in game seven of the Eastern Conference finals in Wednesday NHL action.
The Tampa Bay Lightning missed out on advancing to the Stanley Cup finals in a 3-0 defeat at Washington in game six on Monday night and now return to Amalie Arena for a winner take all game seven. Tampa Bay never got going at the offensive end of the ice with just 23 shots and Andrei Vasilevskiy couldn’t carry the load with a pair of goals given up on 33 shots.
The Washington Capitals avoided elimination Monday and forced game seven with just the second win by the home team in this series. Washington saw TJ Oshie score the only goal they needed with a power play tally at 15:12 of the second period with Devante Smith-Pelly doubling the advantage at 10:12 of the third.
TJ Oshie scored his second of the night on the open net with 50 seconds remaining for an insurmountable lead. Nicklas Backstrom added a pair of helpers for the Capitals to make a winner of Braden Holtby and his 23 stops.
Under is 2-0-2 in Capitals last 4 overall and under is 2-0-2 in Capitals last 4 Conference Finals games and under is 2-0-2 in Capitals last 4 vs. a team with a winning record. Under is 2-0-2 in Lightning last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and under is 2-0-2 in Lightning last 4 vs. Metropolitan and under is 5-0 in Lightning last 5 Wednesday games. Under is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings and over is 12-4-1 in the last 17 meetings in Tampa Bay and road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
Washington has the opportunity to put their demons to rest in game seven at Tampa Bay. The Capitals have had zero problem winning on the road so I’m looking at the plus odds here…
