The Bruins head into Toronto on Saturday to renew hostilities with the Maple Leafs in an Original Six show down at the ACC.
The Boston Bruins head into Toronto on Saturday night looking to inch closer to locking up a playoff spot as they currently occupy the third automatic berth in the Atlantic division but are just a single point up on the Red Wings and could be on the outside by the end of the weekend. Boston has fallen big time and have lost five games in a row which at this point in this season is completely unacceptable and now they run the risk of getting ousted from the playoff picture entirely when just a week ago they were in the running to win the Atlantic division. The B’s desperately need to end their losing ways against the league’s worst team but they always seem to play each other tough so this is not a gimme by any means.
The Leafs meanwhile have been in the league basement all season but a late surge has them in jeopardy of losing their place as the front runner to land the top overall draft pick which has drawn the ire of many in Leafs Nation. Toronto has won three in a row and are now just two points behind the Edmonton Oilers for the worst mark in the league and another win in this one would go a long way in potentially securing yet another first overall selection for the Oilers who have once again fallen well short of expectations this season. While these two teams are heading in opposite directions I think the sample size is way too small to assume the trend will continue and with Boston basically playing for their season I think they get a big time win against the Buds.
