The Air Canada Centre and the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Colorado Avalanche in Monday NHL action.

The Colorado Avalanche have been the hottest team in the game with nine consecutive victories where bot ends of the ice have been at the top of their game. Colorado leaned on their defense in a 2-1 victory versus the visiting New York Rangers on Saturday. Pavel Buchnevich scored the Rangers goal in the second with Henrik Lundqvist stopping 34 shots.

Colorado received scoring off the sticks of Erik Johnson, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen on the empty net. All three added assists and Jonathan Bernier improved  to 13-7-1 with a 27 save performance for the surging Avalanche.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been having difficulty stringing wins together and need to turn things around going forward with the postseason in mind. Toronto comes in off of a 4-3 win at the Ottawa Senators which ended a four game slide. Ottawa saw Erik Karlsson, Mike Hoffman and Tom Pyatt score in the second with Craig Anderson getting the loss with 29 saves.

The Maple Leafs opened the scoring with a first period tally from Zach Hyman before Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and Connor Carrick scored in the third to rally from a 3-1 deficit. Jake Gardiner added three helpers and Frederik Andersen recorded 33 stops to pick up the win for the Maple Leafs.

Under is 3-0-1 in Avalanche last 4 Monday games and Avalanche are 4-0 in their last 4 Monday games and Avalanche are 8-0 in their last 8 games following a win. Under is 4-0 in Maple Leafs last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and under is 5-1 in Maple Leafs last 6 home games and Maple Leafs are 1-4 in their last 5 overall. Under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Toronto and over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Avalanche are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Toronto.

The Avalanche are red hot but only one game has been on the road during their winning streak so Colorado again has to be at their best…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
