The Maple Leafs look to rebound after another tough outing as they host the Colorado Avalanche at the ACC on Tuesday night.
The surging Avalanche are coming off their most impressive victory of the season as they took down the Canadiens in Montreal and now as winners of three in a row they are starting to find their stride and have another nice match up here against the Leafs. Colorado has been without Gabriel Landeskog for the last two games as he is serving a suspension but they haven't missed a beat offensively and are producing at will right now and against a Leafs team that ranks third to worst in the Eastern Conference with 54 goals allowed they could have another strong outing here. Semyon Varlamov will get the nod as he will go up against James Reimer who has won the starting job in the interim as Jonathan Bernier continues to struggle.
The Maple Leafs are in a tough spot right now as their “starting” goaltender in Jonathan Bernier has yet to win a game this season and after allowing a very soft goal on Sunday against the new York Rangers it prompted Mike Babcock to announce that James Reimer will be the starter moving forward. Toronto is in a rebuilding phase and will likely stay there for the next few seasons but with Babcock at the helm he isn't going to take it sitting down and I fully expect the Leafs to show up for their best effort of the season on Tuesday. With that being said I think this will be a low scoring affair as Reimer will look to prove his coach right and I like the under to hit here.
